Join us for a day off full of outdoor adventures and nature exploration. Activities may include catching frogs in the pond, learning about pollinators in the meadow, classic camp games, and building forts. Come prepared to get dirty and have fun!

Boasting 27-acres of forest, five acres of wildflower meadows, and a newly-restored small stream, Woodend is an oasis of natural habitats in our rapidly urbanizing region. Learn about the bees and butterflies that visit our meadows, the frogs and salamanders that breed in our stream, and the many bird species that thrive at our sanctuary. $12 members, $16 nonmembers. Get a taste of what Camp Woodend has to offer and experience the wonders of Spring with a four-day camp at our Woodend Sanctuary! Catch frogs in the pond, hike to Rock Creek, explore the arrival of spring flowers in the meadow and take a trip to the learning garden.

Join us in person at Woodend on Tuesday, May 8th at 6:30pm for an evening of star gazing, tea making, and self discovery. Nature is for everyone, and our three speakers will share their personal stories on how they have found peace, belonging, and themselves while in the natural world.

Speakers Bios:

Ben Winstead (they/them) – Ben is a Maryland Conservation Corps Crew Member at Patapsco Valley State Park.

Briar Schuler (she/they/theirs) – Briar is the Park Ranger Lead at Pocomoke River State Park.

Mae Bergsman (she/her) – Mae is an Agency Budget Specialist Trainee in Finance and Administrative Services at the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. 

Woodend was once a lavish estate with impressive formal gardens. Nature Forward has maintained the beauty of that cultural landscape, while transitioning to native plant gardens that support wildlife and reduce stormwater pollution.
