All true bugs are insects, but not all insects are truly bugs. Confused? And where do those strange names like ‘butterfly’ and ‘dragonfly’ come from when these insects are not flies at all? Join a bug-hugging naturalist for a hands-on look at the most diverse group of animals on the planet. Our field “classroom” will be the McKee-Beshers WMA near Poolesville, MD. Exploring the woods and wetlands there, we’ll learn to distinguish insects from other creatures lacking a backbone as we look for the ID characteristics of major insect groups. Our field conditions will include sunny, open areas with tall vegetation. REGISTER
