Angie McCarthy (she/her) is Nature Forward’s Clean Energy Campaign Manager and the founding Chair of the Marylanders for Data Center Reform Coalition. She loves being a professional advocate and hitting the floor to lobby for responsible data center development, the rollout of clean energy, and environmental justice issues.
Prior to her role as the Campaign Manager, she was served as the Maryland Conservation Advocate, where she covered the educational, outreach, and legislative programs in Prince George’s and Montgomery County’s Councils, as well as the Maryland General Assembly. In her previous role, she served as the co-chair of the Montgomery County Stormwater Partner Network and the Montgomery County Forest Coalition. Her favorite outreach activities are the ones that connect with young adults about their goals and what gets them outside, and how they can plan for a future in the environmental field.
She graduated from Middlebury College in Vermont with a degree in Environmental Studies and Geography. After graduation, she worked in financial risk analysis at M&T Bank, staffed Montgomery County Councilmember Andrew Friedson on all things communications and environmental policy, and worked in sales for a DC-based solar company. She is a Jane of all trades, master of all of them.
When she isn’t working, she plays volleyball against her partner, walks her pitbull through Rock Creek, or eats too much cheese with her best friends. She loves Impressionist art and thinking about the definition of Awe.
