Douglas McRae is the Grassroots Engagement Coordinator for Nature Forward, working with the Conservation Team to enhance the reach of our advocacy and outreach efforts as well as supporting the Water Quality Monitoring program.

Douglas previously worked in higher education, completing his PhD at Georgetown University in 2021 and teaching global, environmental and Latin American history throughout the DC area. In 2017, Douglas conducted research on the history of water and sanitation in São Paulo, Brazil with the support of Fulbright U.S Student Program, and he has written and published several pieces on urban environmental issues. Douglas is also a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer, having lived and worked as a Community Health Educator in Peru for three years. He lives in DC with his family, and though they travel whenever they can, Douglas likes exploring DC and the surrounding region, seeking nature in unexpected places.
