Your feedback on the Policy Plan is critical! But why?
The Policy Plan is guidance for developers as they explore options for developments that are outside of the existing zoning laws and building code (e.g. like needing a rezoning or a special exception).
This situation may sound unusual, but it’s quite common in Fairfax County. Updating the Policy Plan gives us the chance to ask for improvements that aren’t currently established as a desired standard. This Plan language is one of the most important ways to positively influence the way Fairfax County grows and changes.
Daunted? We’re here to make it easy!
- Skim our joint comment letter.
Nature Forward and our partners in the Fairfax Healthy Communities network already reviewed the 30-year-old Plan, attended community meetings, asked questions, read the new white papers, and submitted comments on February 5, 2025 – use our letter as a jumping off point! - Pull out the issues that matter the most to you.
Borrow from our letter, and/or add in your own ideas. Include them all in your comments. - Take ~5 minutes to submit your feedback via our form below.
Even a 1-paragraph submission with your top issues is worth the time!
When should comments be submitted?
All comments received before end of day on Friday, February 14, 2025 will be included in Fairfax County’s Plan Forward Community Feedback Report, due out in March. Feedback will still be received as chapters are released and reviewed, but getting comments in now holds the most power to drive change.
