Hello Nature Forward!
My name is Calvin Chrisfield (he/him), and I am excited to be one of Nature Forward’s new Data Center Interns! Over the next year, I will be supporting our Maryland Conservation Advocate and the rest of the Conservation Team to protect Maryland’s residents, ecosystems, and natural spaces from irresponsible data center development.

In addition to working at Nature Forward, I am currently a junior public policy student at the University of Maryland, focusing on environmental policy. However, my experience isn’t only in the classroom, and I’ve never been afraid to get my hands dirty (quite literally in many cases: ask anyone at the dozens of local trash cleanups I’ve led). For the past two years, I have worked as the Outreach Associate at Anacostia Riverkeeper, where I would regularly attend community outreach events, run water samples for their water quality monitoring program, and teach fishing at their Friday Night Fishing program. In addition, I worked as an intern last summer on the National Dam Removal team at American Rivers, where I researched non-operational hydropower dams and gave policy recommendations on how to prevent future environmental harm. I am so excited to continue my environmental policy journey at Nature Forward!
When I’m not working or studying, I enjoy spending time outside, whether it be kayaking on the Bay, running around Lake Artemesia, or biking (see if you can spot my bike at Woodend when I’m in the office). I also love music and try to listen to at least one new album each week.

I am so excited to have joined Nature Forward! If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out at [email protected]. I look forward to hearing from you all!
