Oaks and Saplings

For the academic year 2024-25, the Nature Preschool will offer two 5-day drop-off programs. Both classes include all-outdoors Fridays, fantastic opportunities for confidence building and risk-taking as well as extended blocks of time for learning, growing, and PLAYING! The Preschool is located at the Woodend Sanctuary, Chevy Chase, Maryland. Children benefit from exploring the natural surroundings of the 40-acre sanctuary, which offers endless opportunities for investigation and discovery.

Saplings: Ages 3 and 4 
Mondays through Thursdays, 8:30 am – 1:30 pm
Fridays, 8:30 am – 11:30 am
Class Size: 16 Maximum
Tuition: $1,520/month
The Saplings Preschool Program is an ideal class for older threes and fours who are ready for a school experience independent of their parents. Our days include an incredible amount of outdoor time enjoying free play in nature, circle time with songs and stories, and hands-on activities in the indoor and outdoor classrooms. Typically, students would transition from the Saplings to the Oaks program in the following year. Saplings applicants must be at least 3 years of age by September 1, 2024.

Oaks: Ages 4 and 5
Mondays through Thursdays, 9:00 am – 2:00 pm
Fridays, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Class Size: 18 Maximum
Tuition: $1,520/month
The Oaks Preschool Program is an ideal class for older fours and younger fives who would benefit from a year of nature school before beginning a structured kindergarten or first grade. Days still include an incredible amount of outdoor time enjoying free play in nature with school-readiness built into everything we do. Oaks applicants must be at least 4.5 years of age by September 1, 2024.
