This year’s Naturally Latinos 2024 took place from January 24 to January 28. The theme of this year’s conference was Perteneciendo: Nuestras Raíces, Nuestra Tierra (Belonging: Our Roots, Our Earth). Before we delve into the conference magic and recap, I want to highlight upcoming bilingual/bicultural programming featuring our super talented Naturally Latinos speakers and friends:
- On June 8, join Nature Forward on a bilingual family walk through Woodend’s learning garden. Click here to sign up.
- On June 15, Lorena Saavedra Smith, will lead an eco-mindfulness field trip. Click here to sign up.
- On October 9, join us for a yoga with birds for a NLC2024/Hispanic Heritage Month Conservation Café with NLC24 speaker María Elena Montero. Click here to sign up.
The NLC2024 conference was held virtually for days 1 and 2, in person on day 3 at the Silver Spring Civic Center, and there were three outdoor activities during the weekend which included birdwatching, forest bathing, and a nature walk. We had 35 speakers, 5 keynotes, and 343 attendees participate in the weeklong conference. NLC2024 was a space for connection and belonging for the Latine community and those who work these communities. The conferences was made possible thanks to the organization, support, and leadership of the NLC2024 planning committee, sponsors, Nature Forward Staff, Little Black Book, interpreters Marisela and Ines, and NLC24 Co-Chairs Eliza and Denisse. See below for NLC2024 photos, videos, articles, and final report.
